i am getting a 55 gallon tank and im not sure what to put in it. its going to be freshwater and i want to have a carnivorous fish in it but i hear that a 55 gallon will be too small...any suggestions?

African cichlids maybe? They are pretty and are cool! Or SA (south American or CA fish tank.

If you don't mind a species tank maybe research the african leaf fish (polycentropsis abbreviata). There are a variety of interesting freshwater species that could make this hobby worthwhile. :fish2:

Well most fish are Carnivorous ;) My Dario Dario is a tiny killer. If you mean Piscovores, most get very large and make huge messes. It's not all that amazing to see them eat once you've had them awhile. Plus if they just eat Goldfish, they may get sick.

Plenty of fish eat live prey. You can feed live Shrimp to Pea Puffers in a 10gal.
