Beautifully done. Just make sure you test your tank often.

Just tested:

Ammonia: 0
Nitrites: 0
Nitrates: 20-40

I must have gotten the sponge from **** with loads of BB. Keep at it LG I have faith your tank will come through. :D

As far as water treatment when you use these, you treat the entire capacity of the tank no matter how much youre changing. I use Seachem Prime. I put in one cap full + 10 drops.

I take it you have a 60 gallon tank?

So if you remove 10 or 20 gallons, you still do a full dose (a cap plus 10 drops)? Why so much?

He uses a water changer which adds raw tap water directly to the tank. In that situation you dose Prime based on the entire volume of the tank...not just the amount you are replacing.

That's right. I usually do 50% PWCs. May as well. I like doing them with the water changer.

Picked up 2 moss balls for the shrimp to hang out in today. Also picked up 10 little (tiny) RCS. Some of my ghost shrimp are missing. The remaining ones seem like they have doubled in size.

Er, missing? lol I've seen those ghost shrimp in the store, they're hard to see, being transparent and all lol Maybe you just missed them?

Glad you're enjoying your new hobby!

Well I've spent a fair bit of time staring at the tank from various directions. I think they are missing. :D

I think I'm in pretty good shape here. Think I'll start testing every 2-3 days now.

Hmm, well today was my first attempt as vacuuming the 20g and do a PWC with fish in the tank. I'm not sure I helped, LOL. Stirred up a bunch of stuff from the gavel and scared the snot out of my fish. They kept trying to swim into the siphon. I might have killed a few shrimp in the process as well.

Hi zparticle and everybody. I am still working on getting hubby's permission to get a tank but anticipate eventual success. I very much enjoyed this thread and learned a lot. I have been reading here and there and am hoping to find a 55 gallon tank and stand for a large community tank off Craigslist. I guess I'll do what I read here and order a seeded filter and do a fishless cycle.
