I don't know what i was thinking when I order online 12 Rcs for my tank, when i got them noticed they where really small, but I figured they would hide in my plants. After acclimating them, dropped them in the tank and boom my Discus had an $20 appetizer, man they didn't last one night. Well lesson learn...

I've been thinking of breeding some RCS for my barbs in a spare tank. Sounds like your discus ate better than you last night. Haha

maybe try a few mature bamboo shrimp. They stay pretty large. I'm not sure if your discus will bully still. What's your stock?

I saw those a few days ago at a Petco but I personally don't like there color, I was looking for something red or white. In my stock the other culprits I can think of is the German blue rams I got 4 and they're always picking around the plants and gravel. Umm makes me wonder if they had something to do with this.

Might I suggest something larger but still pretty? Long arm prawns. A bit more expensive and harder to find, but worth the non-chomping factor. I wanted something for my angelfish tank and knew any dwarf shrimp would be dinner, so I found some long arm prawns. Worked out wonderfully.

Can you post a picture, never seen them.

Here you go. Not the best picture, but you can do google search and see they do come in all kinds of shades, but they all mostly have red claws.

I put 2 south american bumble bee cats into my tank with rcs, ember tetras, and scarlet badis. I went on a week vacation and came back to find they had eaten over 100 rcs. All I had. Even the babies. Then when I moved the fish later I found they had eaten half my fish.

Wow now I don't feel bad. But like I said is a lesson learned

Yep! Thankfully most of the rcs were home bred and not an investment but still..... lol
I would catioun you to be careful with prawns as some are deadly to fish. When young it can be hard to distinguish between a prawn and a ghost shrimp (in fact they are sometimes confused) I have heard of someone buying a "ghost shrimp" that attained an enormous size and killed a 14 inch bala shark. So yiu dont want to reverse the situation and make your discus an expensive snack!

Lol ! Yeah I don't want that

No never heard of them, but crayfish could be aggressive.

Dwarfs, IME, are not. :) They are pretty small, 2-3 inches. They CAN cause harm to small fish, but they would be fine with semi-aggressive fish like rams and discus. I am not sure how they would do well in high temps and discus water, though. I'll do some digging around and see if I can find anything.

the same thing happened to me only i had 30rcs and my rams ate everyone of them in about 5 minutes! i called the company i ordered from and they were willing to send me 30 more but since i didn't have another tank to put them in i declined the offer. :nono:

These don't get more than 4 inches. I wouldn't give the OP advice that would kill or harm his discus. I have these with my angels, if you had read my original reply regarding these specific prawns because of the same issue.
