Aquarium Advice Activist
I cycled the tank with 1 male molly, 1 female platy. I like the fish as they are very active, but I'm not sure I want more due to their insane ability to breed. I've already had 2 batches of fry from my platy. My molly seems to have a taste for fry, so none have survived. I don't have an issue with letting the adults eat fry, but I'm concerned that if I stock 4 platy and 4 mollies (1m,3f) as I planned, one fry will survive here and there, and in a year I'll be grossly overstocked.
So what do I do? I could just leave the male molly by himself, and get a couple more non preggo female platys. Or not get anymore live bearers, and go a different direction (while keeping my current fishy friends).
I do have hard water (don't have a test to know the exact number yet), pH is 7.2ish.
My kinda current stocking plan:
1 molly
3 platies
1 blue gourami
2 bolivian rams (added last, in a couple months)
...not sure what else
That leaves me at 74% according to AqAdvisor.
Any other ideas? I don't want tetra's or barbs.
