Sydney's Rimless Tank.... Round Two!

The friendliest place on the web for anyone with an interest in aquariums or fish keeping!
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
You could always dissolve dry ferts in RO water :) You could use the PPS-Pro measurements, so the dosing would be pretty easy.

I could, but for a girl with no fish keeping experience, bottled ferts with an all in one dose would be best, I think

Ok, here's my scape plan and pictures. Feel free to laugh  My awesome mock up makes the footprint look super tiny - but it should (keyword is *should* lol) look a lot better and make more sense once everything is in the tank.

And if anyone is wondering, I haven't put the FSS on top of the soil yet in case I end up changing the scape.

Love that piece of driftwood. Looks like a micro tree with roots. Like what you did with it. Following!

Not only is the driftwood a cool piece but you've actually scaped it into the tank very very well

Thank you so much guys!!! I really appreciate the vote of confidence. I am really happy how it turned out.

I got the driftwood from Tom Barr! It's actually about 10 different pieces I put together to create that look. Some pieces were pretty large so I just broke them to the size I needed. :)

What do you guys think of the plant placement??

Great work in taking so many different pieces and putting it together like that. You got some artistic vision there! And wow, DW from the famous Dr. Barr at that!

As for plant placement, I wonder how the pygmy chain sword would be in the foreground? I had a brief moment with that species in my 6g, it was sorta tall so i had it in back. Are you going to keep it trim? It's also a little invasive. Maybe some
Crypt Parva would look good there? Or hydrocotyle sp. Japan or a blyxa japonica bush?

What's the plant in the middle foreground?

If you go with java fern in the DW, maybe go with the thinner, narrow leaf java fern. Or go with a cluster of anubias petite as the java ferns might grow leaves too long from that height on DW.

What's the plant in the middle foreground?

Lobelia cardinalis "small form" I believe.

I would add some color to it :) You could maybe use ludwigia sp. red in place of either of the background plant bunches, and maybe substitute the pygmy chain swords in front with AR mini. It would create a bit of contrast, instead of all the plants being about the same color.

I actually bought the plant package from a member on TPT, but I will switch some things around eventually. The Hygro sp. 'Tiger' is reddish brown, so it won't be ALL green.

Nice! I was unfamiliar with Lobelia Cardinalis 'Small Form' but just looked it up. I really like that plant. I might have to try it sometime. :)

Thanks :)

I think i am going to change the scape a bit, and just use the Staur Repens and the Lobelia Cardinalis 'Small Form' as my carpet plants. I just saw that my fair has a Betta/Plant Bowl contest, and since the pygmy chain sword is such an easy plant, I will use that in the bowl. :)

I kind of wish I'd gotten the mini version. Stuff grows incredibly fast, and 6" tall cardinalis looks... "odd"... from the side. Lots of runners filling in between the stems, and it's a real pain in the neck to trim at the bottom of a 24" tall tank!

The plants and betta should *hopefully* get here tomorrow!

And I need to know - what is the best liquid ferts to use for a week while we are gone?

You know dry ferts are mixed into a liquid and are dosed in the same way as seachems pre made liquid ferts

Yes, I just need something in an all in one dose for the house sitter while we are gone, so all she has to dose is glute and some ferts.
