*** Blyxa Question ***
Sometime after planting a few stems of Blyxa japonica, I've noticed that the new stems are not actually in the substrate but about an inch or so above it. Is this normal? These plants appear to be doing fine; new roots are making their way down to the substrate. In the pic below the red arrows mark where the stems are:

I just saw it. That is a ton of Blyxa! If you can't find anyone to send it to then chuck it. You obviously have no problem growing this plant. I see the same thing possibly happening with the pogo erectus.

You all are too kind.
Posting a short vid (42 sec) of my tank. Stay warm, peeps. The song is appropriately entitled "Hell" by the Squirrel Nut Zippers. Enjoy!

I'm glad to see that the blyxya is doing great. I've read about a lot of people having trouble with it. You just have the magic touch;)

Nice video! Can't believe how large that blyxa got in no time. I'm also glad to see the UG doing well. Has it been sending out runners?

Cool video, even cooler song. Thought I was the only Squirrel Nut Zippers fan...

Ha! The vid was a series of short clips. When I first posted it the video was not available using the "YouTube<ID>" link. I switched to the "YouTube<ID>" link instead. Not sure why this is.
After a slow start it took off. Nothing like the Blyxa farm Brookster has. Here is a pic from when I first planted it 2 months ago:

The UG has been inadvertently uprooted on more than one occasion. It is sending out runners. The overall color is more yellow than green. I still have the AquaFertz root tabs. They dissolve slowly and the UG might benefit from it.

The tank looks phenomenal! I have a lot to live up to so I'm just gonna keep following this thread :)

I'm about to do a big WC and start the 4-5 day dosing with erythromycin. The BGA/Cyanobacteria keeps returning even after I remove it during water changes. I have been careful to give the WC bucket a rinse in hot water before using it to refill the tank. It's been lurking in the tank at low level for a while. Just tired of looking at it. It is not on the plants, just the substrate and walls.
I will also be making an adjustment to the lighting schedule. Even though the DCs are lime green most of the time, the full intensity of both Finnex fixtures on at the same time (right now 3 hours) may be too much. Going to try to reduce the lighting and see if this helps with the BBA on the star repens and curled leaves on the AR mini. Downoi is looking a little meh but I recently replanted it. The rest of the plants are doing fine. I am using the standard PPS-Pro dose of 1 mL per 10 gallons. I think I will have the FugeRay turn off an hour early and the planted+ turn on an hour later. This will result on only a one overlap.
Obligatory FTS. Happy Friday everyone!

Tank looks great. Sorry to hear about the BGA. My tanks luckily are cleared of it. However, my Mom's 26g planted is infested. I've been just so busy with work I haven't had time to really doctor it. After some failed attempt with erythromycin, maybe due to not enough dosage, it returned with a vengeance and coated everything. So during my last visit there, I dropped off a product I have yet to try called UltraLife Blue Green Algae Remover. After reading some reviews, I decided to give it a go. I'm going to visit them tomorrow and see if it works...

So here's a thread about it. Bought mine on Amazon. I wonder what's in it? LOL

I'm in uncharted waters here with this product.

Sorry to her about your mom's tank. I saw that product yesterday while surfing Amazon for erythromycin. Not familiar with it. Good luck. The reviews look positive.
I ended up going to Petsmart at lunch time today to pickup the the API EM. I told my coworkers I had to pick up some antibiotics for a personal "problem" that I'd rather not talk about (who wants to talk about Cyanobacteria?) That drew some remarks.
Thanks again for the Blyxa. It is one of the faster growing plants in my tank. Didn't you use it in one of your Iwugami setups at one time?
