A few questions for anyone still following:

I need to get a top on the new 10g. The table it's sitting on is only 20" off the ground and I'm worried about dog hair getting into the tank plus with the cooler weather the water temp has been fluctuating more than I'm comfortable with. What do people use other than the typical Versa Top lids?

All the plants had been moved from my other tanks. Lost a few leaves on the hygro which I expected but the two jungle vals look awful, not even like melt, just brown. Should I get rid of them?

Any other suggestions for low to mid light stem plants?

They fry are fed 2-3 times a day. There are two bumblebee nerites in the tank. Should I think about getting some sort of bottom feeder or even just a few shrimp? I definitely don't overfeed.

I have a 10 gallon tiger endler tank that I float ludwigia repens and cabomba with great success. No co2, no ferts, and only a single low watt t5. The bulb is 4000k temp. Rotala rotundifolia grows good too, but after a while it want to grow out of the tank. Looks cool though

I've tried lots of plants as floaters but never ludwigia, that's interesting! Definitely looking into the rotala.

Hi, I was just wandering around this site and found this thread. Your tanks are awesome. Cute loaches! I sort of skipped around on this thread. Do you still have that no-tech tank? Any ups and downs with it? Do you have any advice for something like that? Thanks.

If you don't want a glass top.but need to defend against hair? You could get a tube light lid or use a window screen.

If you already use a heater in the 10 gallon could you add a second one? I know I had to add a 50 watt heater to my 29 to keep the temperature above 80 degrees

The 10g jungle is still running, plants are a bit out of control so it's due for some trimming. The only issue I've actually had with the tank was an algae problem a few months ago. The tank gets some direct afternoon sunlight on the right side, since the back of the tank is bare I cover that section with a small towel. Haven't had a problem with it since.

Some major personal stuff going on here the past few weeks, fortunately that's seems to under control/resolved so I think I'm back now...

Because of all that I haven't done anything other than routine maintenance with the tanks. Looks like it's time for another trim in the jungle. Photo taken in the afternoon so the light is a bit wonky:

I pulled a few lower-quality RCS for the grow out tank. Not really concerned about breeding/shrimplets, just wanted something in there to help clean. Still haven't done anything about a lid for the tank or made any decisions about plants :hide:

Really enjoy having the Spec 5 on my desk, so easy to get distracted watching all the shrimp. Noticed there are also scuds in there, left over from when I had badis. Lots and lots of MTS well, need to get motivated to remove a bunch. They keep detaching my anubias from the cholla

Shrimp feeding time:

Rehomed the two bonus betta girls. Neither worked out with other fish and/or shrimp. Thinking about going back to the original idea of shrimp only in the newest 2.5g, maybe some sort of tigers. I'm still hesitant about trying any other Caridinas....

Been a while since there were any Endlers fry so I was excited to find 2 yesterday. Got them both out (I do not possess good fish netting skills :nono:), pulled a bunch of MTS from the shrimp tank and reattached the anubias. Back to the Endlers tank to find 6 more fry! It actually took less time to net them than the original 2 though.

Some of the adult Endlers, they are definitely not shy fish:

This is a great thread. I was inspired to try a low tech/no tech tank after seeing yours. Do you dose CO2? all your tanks look beautiful.

Thanks so much!

I'm really bad about ferts, even put a reminder on my phone but it only gets done maybe once a week :hide: I use Leaf Zone, Excel, and Comp.

If you do water changes weekly, then dose the ferts after doing that.

Had my hand in the Endlers tank earlier getting rid of pest snails and this one kept coming by for a visit:

PM me if you get around to clearing some MTS. They're my favorite, for all I have a blue mystery. I tend to walk the line with feeding so I still only have the one.

Ok, trying to decide on floaters for both the 16g and the Endlers grow out tank. Looking for opinions on either dwarf water lettuce or salvinia minima. Medium filter output and medium lighting in the 16g. Low light with indirect sunlight in the Endlers tank.

Ermagerd, Theresa, have you seen ricciocarpus natans? Go to the Google! It's erbazing! Okokok, I know it says medium light, that's not too bad. And it's really pretty!

Salvinia stinks with high flow. It gets blown around a lot. I put a floating plant "island" for mine and it's doing better. My Frogbit loves it also.

Dwarf water lettuce looks cool. I'm getting some on Thursday do I'll tell you how I like it.
