The canister is set up, the backing is on, the Khuli's and Rainbows are in. Still clearing a bit and micro bubbles from the new canister. IMG_1482891608.513523.jpg

That looks amazing!!! What do you think now that you have it together?

I am wishing I could also get the orange/bronz-y one too! I think they come from China and India (and similarly located countries).

I'm very happy with how it's coming along. I'm still moving the smaller plants here and there. And I still have a few left in my holding tank I might try.

What do you think of the lighter backing? I was going to do black but wanted to give this a look-see. I'm on the fence.

I am going the tear down my 10g snail nursery/qt tank and use my older canister and lights to set up a 20Long. So I will always be able to rotate plants in and out.

Is it window film?

I like it overall. Try a black trash bag on back to see how you might or not like the black. Personally I am not a black background fan for most things. It does really depend on what is in there.

One of my favorite backgrounds is the fade to deep blue. You can search engine images to get a feel if it might be right for you. The blue really makes the background part of the tank. I have a permanent black (came stock from the factory with that option) in my 72G tank.

It is awfully dark and can't see into the back of the tank really. In mine it would be better for a white sand and stones SW, so everything could pop. But in the FW very planted tank too dark imho. This pic shows tank with the lights up full blast. Normally it is middle light and like a cave :/

Your tank is awesome! I had a blue background before and the neons didn't really show up well. The material isn't window film. It's a thin polyethylene from TAP that I cut to size and taped on. Semi rigid so it was much easier to handle. They have it in black too for a whopping $3.95. I guess for a few bucks/minutes I will try the black out the weekend and let my hubbie decide.

It's a purple/mauve color. I've seen some online that are redder.

I came home to an inch of water drop. Someone (me) didn't connect a hose well enough. Thank goodness I always keep my canister in a tub!

Oooooooooo

Ahhhhhhh.....
Wow. Garnet sand really has that color? Oh, I'm so making a tank with that! :brows:
I really wanted garnet sand when I started out. I couldn't find it locally and was tooI'm impatient to order it.

Oh jeez! No joke!

Yep I keep it in a 20 gallon trash bin to make it less conspicuous and guard against water leaks. I'm messy.

I like it but have a restless it's not there yet feeling. The large Java in the center needs to come out. I may move some of the crypts there. And the smaller bucephalandra rocks need to be arranged a bit better. I still have some dwarf sag to plant! Maybe a tad bit deeper on the sand too? Going to try a black back too and see if it makes things pop a bit more.

I'm setting up a 20G long next weekend to use as my snail nursery and tearing down the small 10g so I will have plenty of room for my extra plants as I like to move them around a bit and swap them out to keep things fresh.

I know the feeling. The worst thing is getting what is in your mind in to the tank. I like it

Maybe a medium sized piece of curved wood leading in to the large rock in the right? Something to focus the eye.

Yikes!

(Makes note to self: Make sure the canister for that new tank sits in a tub!)

After connecting the hose CORRECTLY everything has been fine! Never had any incidents before. But I had husband supervision.
