    Pooping Guts!

Thank you for your help. I would assume that if they had parasites they would have a little bit of a distended belly. Monos are very slender silver fish and show anything that goes into them or is in them. Ill check out the site. THANKS!!! -Jessica

    Pooping Guts!

Autopsy shows no signs of parasites. Though I cant say for sure I know what Im Looking for. Maybe I lowered the salinity too fast after Ick treatment?

    Pooping Guts!

Started with 7 now down to three. They sure are sensitive little guys. Think I should worry about internal parasites? I just went through an ick treatment (salt heat method) Ive never had so many fish problems. That is the last time I get fish shipped to me. I'll let the LFS deal with this and...

Help me stock my 50 gal. Pics posted

All of my plants have gone through a bit of a shock or recession period after being transfered. Plants die slowly and come back slowly. Patience is a virtue with them. trying to do too much at once to save some plants has always gotten me into trouble. ie adding too much nutrients to the water...

    Brackish Ich Questions...sorrrrrry

Yes but most are often traded in fresh water especially as juveniles. Most LFS dont have brackish set ups, and I purchased these from a freshwater cichlid guy on ebay (go figure) who happened to have 7 of them for cheap. All of the brackish fish Ive seen for sale have been in freshwater tanks...

    Good snail or evil snail

I was talking snails in general, i understand that ramshorn wont burrow in the substrate. All are different but bring something decent to the table.

    Good snail or evil snail

no snail is "evil" if you have too many stop over feeding. Whats to hate about airated substrate and less algae?

How many people use RO water in freshwater?

I always have a bucket of RO water around. My dad uses it for his african ciclids (he adds a specifically made ciclid mineral and trace element suppliment) and I use half RO water and half tap water for my brackish and goldfish tanks. My tap water is nearly chlorine free (it doesnt even read on...

    Brackish Ich Questions...sorrrrrry

Im starting to think I should join a brackish interest forum because Im only reading stuff about goldfish in here, does anyone know of any good brackish forums? Im sure they exist. Its really hard to find advice about this stuff online. I dont like making my own educated guesses about this...

    Brackish Ich Questions...sorrrrrry

So i was recently stupid enough not to quarantine 6 small mono argentus. I just acclimated them over the course of 3 hours. Yes ich happened. (i could kick myself) My question is, since it is essentially freshwater they came from, would putting them in the brackish tank work like the heat salt...

    Upgrading tank questions...

I could do that too. I think if i remove the media trays (not the mechanical side) from one filter, i could probably just pack it with the old bio balls for a while. atleast a few handfulls of them. Ive had all the ceramic media i plan on using in the sump about 3 weeks now. Im going for it next...

    Upgrade cycling inquery

I thought about running the fluvals but its just going to create way too much current unless I put the input in the overflow box i guess. It would make for hard feeding times too. Way too much plugging and unplugging. I think you're right I think I will be ok. I have so much rock and wood and...

    Upgrading tank questions...

The only problem im having with doing something like that is the new tank has to go where the current one stands. as far as trying to set the new one up to cycle while the current one still houses the fish, it would make it impossible to move. Im kind of just looking for reassurance that there...

    Upgrading tank questions...

I currently have a 100 gal bowfront with a modified overflow to run at aprox. 65 gal (to leave room at top). I am upgrading to a 125 gal aquarium which I plan on running full. (Im building an above tank cricket/mangrove terrarium on one side so the fish still have spitting room) Im switch to 2...

is this a zebra nerite snail?

"Neritina natalensis and Vittina coromandeliana are African freshwater nerites that may be sold under the zebra nerite monicker, but they have light brown shells with dark brown to black stripes so are quite easily to distinguish from the brackish water nerite Puperita pupa. Distinguishing them...

    Schooling Mono Argentus My Butt!

They were all about 1 1/2'' when I introduced them. I put them all in at the same time. I got them all from the same store they were all housed together in a small 10 gal. tank. I watched them for a week before I bought them and they all seemed healthy and ate well. They established their...

    Schooling Mono Argentus My Butt!

So It was recomended that I get 5-6 mono argentus or one. Of course I grabbed all 6 because they are hard to find locally. They were also very small so I knew I would have some time before I had to either upgrade or split them into two tanks. They have now singled out and killed 2 so far with...

    Frightened Mono Argentus

My life is a pretty solid routine (unforunately) They get fed and lights out at the same times everyday. Like you said they are new. I just saw something on here before I was even ready for fish, about monos freaking out and I couldnt find it again. Just wondering if it was a common problem...

    Frightened Mono Argentus

All of the fish are of equal size and the only other fish I have besides the monos are 2 archers who dont bother anyone. If anything the monos pick on the archers a little. I do have 2 cats who are completely disinterested in both tanks and I would never put anything around them that they may...

    Frightened Mono Argentus

I've seen something posted about this in here before I even got started on this tank, and now I can't find it for the life of me. Maybe someone can refresh me as to the porblem or maybe a solution? Everytime I turn the lights off on my (currently fresh beginning salt next week) Brackish tank...

    New to site.

Hey everyone! I have searched this forum before, trying to determine fungal or bacterial infections on my goldfish that was extremely helpfull. I will now be spending most of my time in the brackish forums. I have learned a lot just reading for a few days, but as it draws closer I know I will...
