I think it's time for me to try the pantyhose over the filter inlet idea. One of my ghost shrimp met his demise today, as his head was sucked into the filter inlet. Other than pantyhose over the inlet, does anyone else have suggestions?

I was curious as to what baths you dip your new plants in to kill/remove unwanted items that may be on the plant.

My plants are literally falling apart! I got anacharis for the fact that it doesn't need much light, but why are they just falling apart? They have been in the tank for 3 weeks. I know these go through a period when you first get them and they can do this, but why 3 weeks later?

So my gourami has been hanging out at the surface today. Looks like he breaks the surface to take a breath, then spits a bubble out on the surface.. do these guys make bubble nests too or is it something else to worry about?

I noticed today that my heater (Marineland 50 watt stealth pro) indicator light was flashing from red - green every 5 seconds. What does this mean? I googled it and even wrote the manufacturer even though I'm sure they are too "busy" to send a quick response.. Thanks for the help!
