    Another Ailing Betta

Hi; My Betta seems to have an uncommon infection judging by the posts on bettas and symptoms. As far as water conditions, I can't give those as I don't have a test kit. I have QT'd into a bucket right now, and I give him 50% - 75% water change everyday. The tank itself is healthy, I did lose...

    Snails

I use Malaysian Trumpet Snails largely for aerating my substrate, and cleaning the scraps of food that make it too the bottom... They work for that quite well... and I am pretty sure I have seen them eating algae, but they may only do this when there is no other food for them? I'm not sure

Experience with Harlequin and Dwarf Gourami -recommendations

Bettas should be fine :) Even if he chooses to be aggressive towards the Rasboras.. they will dart nimbly out of his way... and he will miss :P I love it when my Betta gets agressive spurts and charges through my Clouds, it is too funny!

    The Ever Loving Lighting Problem

definately looking into those screw-ins... my tank temp stays at a pretty steady 78 degrees... the only time it goes up is when it hits 84-86 outside temp.. I'm on the 4th floor of an apartment building with a SouthEast facing window.. this room gets HOTT... but even then, temp doesn't go above...

    The Ever Loving Lighting Problem

Hmmm. screw in flourescents? now that is something I haven't heard of :) I figured the incandescents were pretty useless, but u don't argue with a free tank outfit! They are such lovely plants.... definately going to look into the flourescents. Now, I just found an 60-watt Plant Gro bulb that...

    The Ever Loving Lighting Problem

Hi! early last week I purchased some Sunset Hygrophila, and put them in my tank.... while my java ferns, java moss, etc. seem to do ok, these guys started wilting a fair bit. 10 gallon plant choices

I love Java Fern, tough as nails as I have learned... JAva moss would provide a nice cover I think, if you can get it to root to something, I'm trying to get mine to stick to one of my rocks, it is nice and slow growing. I'm trying my luck with some sunset hygrophilia right now... :fingers crossed:

Anyone here never do water changes?

Wow, that's crazy, I used to change the water in my betta bowl every week - 2 weeks, he'd get a little cranky with me for the first couple of days but then he was ok. Now he is an a proper aquarium and loves it

Anyone here never do water changes?

considering in nature, rain replensishes the water levels and adds fresh water, and very little moves around on the floor of the pond, unless disturbed by humans :?, it seems to me that if one has the right variety of fish and plants... u should have a fairly stable, low maintenance tank (that's...
