    Lizards, hermies anyone??

Well I work at a petstore, and "Marky Mark" as we like to call him (Walhberg, get it?) has been there longer than I have. Feel bad for the little guy. He has a lot of personality and is the perfect size for what I'm looking for. The thing is, I just don't trust him. I normally clean his cage...

    Lizards, hermies anyone??

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I had a couple reptile questions myself, and this seems to be the place to get them answered. I bought a 20 high reptile tank the other day (has built in vents and other gadgets) on clearance for 5 dollars from 79 (!). Now that I have it, I'm having a hard...

I gotta second that it's a columbian spotted, or at least it appears that way to me.

I think I did something really dumb

Thanks for the response. If it doesn't reproduce, is it going to still eat my plants?

I think I did something really dumb

In my planted tank I saw something moving along the sand out of the corner of my eye. Once I looked close I realized it was a tiny little snail, must of hitchhiked with the sword I bought. So I'm about to get him out of there asap, but then I feel bad for the little guy. I didn't want to...

    Crab tank

I'm pretty sure red claw crabs don't require brackish water. Def good a hood though, you'd be amazed at their escape abilities.

    Giant Koi???

There was an piece on the 226 year old koi in one of the fish keeping magazines awhile ago, maybe last year. It was in a pond that had fresh mountain water running through it 24/7 and was handed down from generation to generation. To make sure it was right, they had it tested in a lab after it...

    Hatchets with angels

Anyone know if Angelfish could live peacefully with Marble Hatchets? I would worry about the angels looking up and then deciding to attack. Anyone ever have the two together?

    "Fishless" cycle myth.

If you think about how many fish are collected from their "homes" in the wild, shipped across the world, and then bought only to know there is a good chance they are going to die, it seems pretty cruel to me.

How many times have you been aquarium shocked??? (((POLL)))

I get shocked about once a week, but then again my hands are in the water/fixing broken filters way more than most people here (I work at Petco). The other day I got shocked really bad for the first time though. Afterwards I couldn't stop shaking my hand and I felt really sick. Got sent home...

    Petco cruelty issue??

I work at Petco, so I know just how many we sell a day. The small feeders and minnows usually have around 500 at the max. Normally though, the tank probably averages around 300. Large feeders have no more than 100 or 200 I think (can't remember exactly). I'm not saying I like these...

    55 Gallon stockign ideas...sigh...

African biotope tank? Congo tetras, some sort of syndotis cat and a few other species in a dark tank would look really cool. Bucktooth tetras are a cool, colorful, large and aggressive south american species that would be nice in a planted tank with some other aggressive fish (maybe a...

    Something New and Different

I've never seen them at a LFS, but I was reading about a pike livebearer in an aquarium book. Looked real interesting, I'd love to have a tank for a couple.

    Smaller Plecos?

A small school of pitbull plecos are nice, they seem no bigger than a tetra really. I'm not sure, but I thought I might of read that they technically aren't plecos though (even though they look like your average common pleco)...

Please tell me about blue lobsters

I've kept them before, fun to watch when they are out of hiding. I wouldn't go with plants, as in my experience, they chow down on anything they can (ps - LOVE frozen krill. Was able to have it take it from my hand every time) I tried keeping them tetras, I figured they would be way too fast...

    What to stock

Yeah, I was going to suggest a brackish tank. Mono's and bumbleebee gobies would do pretty well for a 55. Scats also have a very cool unique look to them. If not, maybe center the tank around a small school of bala sharks? They are very fun to watch and when they get bigger it makes for a...
