10 gallon with sand

I want to start a 10 gallon tank with sand... Not sure what I want to put inside but I want something colorful.. What should I put .?.. I would like a small community.. Pairs of anything

Look into the non-annual killifishes. Lots of color to be found there.

Look at some of the pseudomugil rainbows a school of 6-8 of one of the smaller species and a dwarf gourami would look amazing.

For small tanks I love bettas. I would do a male betta with a school of danios or tetras, a bottom feeder of some sort (maybe a cory), a snail or 2, an african dwarf frog, some ghost shrimp.
