I would never suspected the gourami. Good to know.
If it does sink, you could always add a new piece and take the old one out and let it sit (and dry out).
Fake floating stems (depending on how realistic they look) might be an option here.

I have been looking for nice fake floaters. Everything I've seen around here looks cheesy and is over priced.

Well I put down my male neon blue gourami today. First time doing that. I used freezing water. Very fast it seemed. He was simply getting bullied by the more dominant male flame. His fins were looking tattered today, his feelers were taken off a few weeks ago by alpha boy. He's been have white stringy poo for months and I had no way to rehome him. I feel awful. This was all my fault, never should have gotten him...all that fun stuff. Ugh.....
