Hello hello! My lfs is going out of business and today I stopped in for a couple female mollies and came home with lots and lots of free livestock--- I really need help so I can introduce all these fish into my two established tanks safely.
I need to know what additional filtration I need and tips as these are all new species to me. I already ordered a Aquaclear 70 HOB for my 29 and just popped in a whisper10i but it doesn't have any "media bag" only the comb thingy in it.
I will describe my tanks with the current fish/filtration I already have in them:
20 long: bubble/sponge filter I only run during the day and slim HOB rated for 20 gals with a male betta fish. No other livestock except 1 assassin snail and lots of pond snail babies.
29: Heavily planted (15 anubias & other lowlight plants) whisper40 in tank filter and 14 small/med neon tetras. No other livestock except 1 assassin snail and lots of pond snail babies.
Both tanks have driftwood, plants, rocks, lots of fake roots and caves for the fry and the loaches to hide in
So here are my many new fish, all need to be added ASAP:
2x Clown Loaches that are about 3.5" long
1x Green/Orange Loach 3" long
1x Algae eater 4" long
4x adult guppies and 8 or so guppy fry
{All of the above I plan to put into my 29, after moving the assassin snail}
2x adult mollies, both female, 1" and 2"
5x Platies (1 is male) and 10 tiny fry
{the above fish I will likely add to the betta tank, but I might put the fry in with the peaceful fish in my 29)
Well that's about it! I am going to do a WC and parameter tests right now before acclimating the fish and if I am making any mistakes you notice I would love to hear your advice before I finish in a few hours and release the livestock! Thanks!!!
