I added some more rock to my tank last night. I had a lot left over that was drying out. After boiling it for an hour and rinsing may times to get the debris off, I added to my reef--mostly Tonga Branch.
I got bored last night, so I decided to make the obligatory "Friday Night Voyage" to the LFS. I couldn't resist a purchase--they had my FAVORITE CORAL OF ALL TIME: a Yellow Leather. I have always wanted one and had never been in the right place at the right time to pick up a small one. I splurged and paid more than I intended on this "frag" of a leather $39.95.
It's doing its normal thing of adjusting to the tank---going through the "Oh my GOD it must be dying phase!! Ahhhh!" I know better. In the next week or so, it will be full and fluffly with polyps extended. Can't Wait
I also couldn't resist a deal. The LFS had this little beauty for $15. It was on the $15 shelf, so a deal's a deal.
Kenya Tree
Both corals were drip acclimated for an hour then added. The Kenyas are tough and grow like weeds. In a matter of hours it was sport'n the full monty in all it's swaying glory
I have spent more than anticipated on the tank in a very short period of time. I did take the Coral Banded Shrimp back to the LFS. It was ambushing my Flame at night and shredding fins. Not going to have my Flame pushed around by a serial killer of a shrimp.....so he go bye bye.
At this point, I am going to cap the reef as it is and let it grow and expand with the life built into the live rock and through the growth of the corals that I have. It's exactly what I wanted and I am a happy reefer right now.
Thanks again for looking
