I added some more rock to my tank last night. I had a lot left over that was drying out. After boiling it for an hour and rinsing may times to get the debris off, I added to my reef--mostly Tonga Branch.

I got bored last night, so I decided to make the obligatory "Friday Night Voyage" to the LFS. I couldn't resist a purchase--they had my FAVORITE CORAL OF ALL TIME: a Yellow Leather. I have always wanted one and had never been in the right place at the right time to pick up a small one. I splurged and paid more than I intended on this "frag" of a leather $39.95.

It's doing its normal thing of adjusting to the tank---going through the "Oh my GOD it must be dying phase!! Ahhhh!" I know better. In the next week or so, it will be full and fluffly with polyps extended. Can't Wait :)

I also couldn't resist a deal. The LFS had this little beauty for $15. It was on the $15 shelf, so a deal's a deal.

Kenya Tree

Both corals were drip acclimated for an hour then added. The Kenyas are tough and grow like weeds. In a matter of hours it was sport'n the full monty in all it's swaying glory

I have spent more than anticipated on the tank in a very short period of time. I did take the Coral Banded Shrimp back to the LFS. It was ambushing my Flame at night and shredding fins. Not going to have my Flame pushed around by a serial killer of a shrimp.....so he go bye bye.

At this point, I am going to cap the reef as it is and let it grow and expand with the life built into the live rock and through the growth of the corals that I have. It's exactly what I wanted and I am a happy reefer right now.

Thanks again for looking (y)

Wonderful looking tank. I laughed whenever I saw the "we didn't want to break the bank". I doubt your daughter would mind a pair of platinum perculas or other ridiculously expensive piece, hehe.

Just some updated pics. I moved some things around to go for a more "Minimalist" look.

The only thing I am looking to add is a nice meaty gorgonian. I think I will give it some time though, considering the tank is less than 3 months old. My Flame loves the camera :)

I will be upgrading the lighting to a snazzy 4 bulb T5 Tek light in a couple weeks to really give some growth. Time is one thing you can't buy.......and time will make this baby fill out.

Had to re-home the Flame Angel. He was nipping the coral and bullying the other fish. I am holding out for a Sunburst Anthias as the center piece. Right now I have a Watchman Goby, GS Maroon Clown, and 2 Purple Reef Chromis.
