45 Gallon stock Ideas

Hey everyone! I am getting back into the hobby, but new to freshwater. I am purchasing a 45 gallon tank and had a few questions for stocking it.

Ideally, we were looking to have a betta as the center piece fish, and I found a lot of conflicting information online about which fish were fin nippers. I am open to all suggestions and am looking to have this tank planted.

The tentative stock ideas are:

1 betta
7-10 Cardinal tetras
5-7 Corys

Looking to add more variety and again open to all opinions! Thank you again for your help!

45 gallons? I'd go for 20-25 Cardinals. They look great in a big school.
