My daughter wanted an aquarium and I believe I always wanted one when I was a kid. We couldn't convince my wife to get anything bigger than a 5g. So here we are with our small ecosystem.
The setup is a 5.5G Top Fin, we added Water Conditioner and Bacteria Supplement. This is the first picture:
After 5 days we added Tetras (I think they are Rosy, but I'm not sure), 3 of them.
3 days after adding the fish I changed about 1G of water and added more Water Conditioner and Bacteria Supplement (before adding the water to the aquarium).
I'm measuring the water with the 5in1 strips and and ph seems to be ok, between 6.5 and 7, KH is pretty close to 40ppm and GH between 0 and 30ppm. Nitrites and Nitrates are at 0ppm. Water is at 25c (77f).
I read that since I'm still on the cycling phase I should change the water more frequently so I'm planning to change 1g every 3 days.
The fish seem very quiet during the day (and with the aquarium light on) they get a lot more active when there's no lights. And they don't seem to be eating a lot, I feel like they don't see the food, and will only eat if one of the flakes is sinking right in front of them. This behavior doesn't change, I tried not feeding them for a day, feeding once a day, or multiple times a day. Only really small amounts (I counted like 10 flakes once). I can see food on the gravel since they never eat everything...
Any advice from aquarium advice folks?
Thanks!
