a quick question concerning lighting

I recently created a 40 gal qt tank for my ich treatment

Do i need to light this tank? My PC's are in my display tank and are a hassle to remove... Can i use a desklamp? as long as they have a light source, or is the light not neccessary?

Yes some kind of light and it can be a desk lamp.

For fish only the light is for your viewing as the fish don't need light.
