We now think they both had ich before we even got them. You know how wonderful the walmart people are about tank upkeep. All the danios we got from there are dead too except for one leopard. He seems to be ok. From now on we have to just bite the bullet and drive the 40 minutes to a decent LFS.

Your most likely right, bala sharks can get ich very easily. Either ordering your fish, going to your LFS or doing anything not to go to the walmart would probably be helpful for keeping healthy fish.
