Algae?

Hi im new to marine and bought some live rock today could someone tell me if the red stuff is algae and if i need to get rid of it thanks

That is a nice looking rock. The hard, calcium coloring you have there is coraline algae. It is something to look forward to having. In some systems, it can become a problem but is a sign of a healthy aquarium, especially reef setup.
