Depends on what water you're doing the changes with. If the tank has tapwater in it using your tapwater in a PWC won't do the job your best bet is removing half the water and adding RO water to it. Your LFS will usually sell it if not you can use the refill station at the grocery store.

Depends on the water, if the TDS is too high you will get tea colored water with no noticeable change to the chemistry.
