another co2 ?

A check valve is very important. You dont want the tank accidentally siphoning out and making a mess or damaging your equipment.. Bubbles per minute is an imprecise guide. Do you have a drop checker?
 
I usually recommend starting with 2-3 bps as a baseline to get started, but you have to be able to measure it with a drop checker or pH controller. There are far too many factors, though, for it to be even remotely suggestable for a 'this is what you need' type of thing. Your diffusion method, gas exchange, etc all factor in to this.
 
i have a drop checker but havent been able to notice a diff in the color sence i put the co2 in the tank. is there a way to test the solution that turns the test water blue?
