My three year old daughter caught some ants outside and fed them to my fish. She said the mollies ate them. These are the really small black ants. Are these poisons to fish. I know some ants have stingers and formic acid, but I know these ants do not sting. They are black and smaller than a uncooked grain of rice. The fish seem to be OK right now. Is there something I should do, beside telling my daughter not to put anything else in the tank?

Not much you can do at this point for the fish. Chances of anything bad happening is pretty slim tho. <After all, pond fish eat any bugs that fall in, including ants, never saw anything bad from that.>

+1 above. I would still tell your daughter in a nice way to ask you if it's okay to feed the fish. Tell her it's not good to over feed them.
