Trying to help someone identify a fish. Wasn't given much details. Looks saltwater. I've never seen them before so I figured someone here would know.

Looks like a bat fish to me but harder to tell with the angle.

Yes, batfish and either juvenile Platax tierra (as Sniperhank suggested) or P. boersii. From what I can see, the broader dorsal and anal fins are more suggestive of P. boersii than P. tierra.
