Backround setup?

Ok...I feel like a complete idiot...but i'm gonna ask anyways.. I bought a backround for my tank..at the the moment i taped it on the back of the tank...and u can barely see it now..u don't have to do anything else or different to put them up do u? all u do is just tape it to the back of the tank don't u? u don't put it in the water or anything ? Well thats my question...thanks again guys for your help..
 
I've found that it works really well to use petroleum jelly to affix the background to the outside of the tank. Just smear a thin coating on the background, put it in place, and then use a credit card or something similar to squeegee the bubbles from between the too. Holds for a really long time, really makes the background show up well, and you don't need tape for the edges unless your really want to.

I've heard that vegetable oil also works well, but haven't tried it myself.
