if you have a drilled tank and say a corner wier, if you use fine filter media does it remove the nedd for a skimme? as i understand it a skimmer is to clear the surface level of water so the weir should do this right?

If your feeding a protien skimmer from your weir you dont want to filter the water in any way, the protien skimmer should do a fine job of that.. Im assuming this is for a SW project.. HTH

im just trying to get information for when i plan to have a SW tank, what is it that a skimmer or protein skimmer actually does? i thoght the weir could rplace it apperntly m mistaken

p.s im about to finish my high school exams and have loads of projects in mind

Protien floats to the surfase of the water.. the weir draws that water out of the tank then the protien skimmer removes the protien from the water.. HTH
