best way to remove the notched area on hood?

I need to remove some of the hood material to make a place to put the HOB filter aquaclear 110. What is the best way to remove those notched areas? Looks partially precut for this purpose, but what is the best way to remove what i need to remove without possibly damaging anything?

A razor blade or sharp pair of scissors should work. I'm In the EMS field and we have trauma shears that can cut anything and that's what I used.

Yup, I just used a sharp pair of scissors.

I used scissors the first time, after that I realized the perforated piece is very easy to just bend and tear it off. Bending/tearing is the easiest way, if you need to just cut the first notch and it will be even easier
