My little gold fish has some black spots on him . Anyone have a clue what this could be?

You need to give a lot more info ... tank parameters & fish size, what the spots are like, where they are, size/changes, etc.
Black can be normal color (if your fish is a calico), or it can be signs of healing. A wound (or ammonia/salt burn, etc) will turn black as it heals. OTOH, the spots can be something else altogether.
