Changing water to RO/DI

55 gallon tank been using tap water, has more nitrates in it than I want so buying a RO/DI unit what's the best way to switch out the water in the tank with out stressing the fish?

Slowly.
Remember, RO/DI is not safe to drink or to use straight in your fish tank. You must remineralize and adjust the pH before you add it to your tank. Get your mixing station set up.
