I just bought a new tank and stand this past weekend. My first "big" tank since giving up my 50g a little over a year ago.

The tank is measures 20 x 20 x 12", which lends a great footprint to play around with. The shallow nature of the tank adds to this as well.

I'm thinking about making this a shrimp tank, but I haven't decide yet.

Here's some preliminary info:

Tank & Equipment

Deep Blue Professional 21g Rimless
2x Satellite Current + Pro
Hydor Professional 150
Cobalt NeoTherm 100w

Hardscape & Substrate System

Driftwood (haven't decide which kind)

ADA AquaSoil (Amazonia/Powder)

ADA PowerSand Special-S

BorneoWild Balance

BorneoWild Boost P

GlasGarten Bacter AE

Ferts

Flourish

Flourish Excel

Flourish Iron

Flourish Nitrogen

Flourish Phosphorus

Flourish Potassium

Plants

?

Fuana

Blue Bolt Shrimp?

Here are some pics of the tank:

It would be cheaper, easier, and better for the plants to dose EI/PPS pro with dry fertilizer.

Here: Estimative Index | Aquarium Fertilizer | Green Leaf Aquariums

or here: PPS-Pro | Aquarium Fertilizer | Green Leaf Aquariums

Depending on whether you want dosing bottles and all the other stuff in there or not. Just give them a read through about what it contains. The second link has more stuff though.

As for plants, it sounds like you have medium light at least (not sure about SAT+ fixtures so maybe I'm wrong). You may even want to consider investing in pressurized co2 if you already are getting such expensive substrate.

What kind of scape are you thinking of?

Anyways, I'm following along of course. :)

Blue bolts, very nice choice!

Looking forward to watching this progress :flowers:

2 Sat+ pro's over a tank that shallow after adding the aquasoil should be about 10" deep from lights to sub would be high light...the pro fixtures pack a punch to say the least...a great footprint for a planted aquarium, the possibilities are endless...
I assume you'll be using pressurized co2..
I agree with Fish on using dry ferts as well, will last 4-5 times longer than the ones you had described...
You'll really like the hydor canister,I use the 250 on my 40b(nothing but good things to say about it)...

Unfortunately, this tank still sits empty.

I have, however, finally picked/bought the hardscape for this tank, which will be petrified driftwood. Have a look...

This is going to be an awesome tank! I love the dimensions! I want to get my hands on some petrified wood! That stuff is amazing!

Thanks for the info on ferts.

I'm thinking an Iwagumi layout or something of the sort, using petrified driftwood.

Try to if you can. I have another tank running with the stuff and I absolutely love it.

Here's a couple shots of the tank. This particular type of petrified driftwood seems to be a different shade than the one for the 21g. (I don't a thread for this tank on this forum; its an Eheim Aquastyle 4g):

Love it! Yeah I have been looking at petrified wood for a while now. James Findley has used it in several of his tanks and I love the look.

Looks awesome! I meant the 0.1 gallon, however that's even possible lol

He's what inspired me to utilize that kind of hardscape.

Lol, I took that tank down months ago. Although, I have been thinking about setting it back up. That was a fun little project.
