4 week old tank....ammonia levels have been running around .50 ppm...no nitrites... i have 5 danios.... i have been doing 50% water changes every other day to bring ppm down to .25... today i checked and i finally had some nitrites in the tank.... my ammonia was .50 and nitrites were .25...i did a 50% water change again this morning to bring ammonia down and now my ammonia is .25 but my nitrites are back down to 0... should i hold off on water changes and let it come down on its own now that nitrites are forming? im worried i just set the tank back again, been waiting over one month for nitrites to finally form and now i took them back to 0..

No it's not messed up. The BB that consume nitrite are still there but you can't see (on the test kit) the nitrite because it's lower than the test registers. Keep up your water changes to keep ammonia and nitrite down. The BB will keep forming.
