What is the min size tank I can have for a discus and how many can I put in one tank.

Hi Anthony, discus really need to be kept in groups unless you buy them as a pair (which is going to cost you, lol). For a group of 6 discus, I'd say absolute minimum 55 gallons, but 75 gallons would be better. If you would like to buy paired discus, I would say minimum 29 gallons, although some might disagree.

Really, discus get fairly large and need an aquarium that has more height and swimming room than a 20g.

What book is that? Any fish book author knows discus are expensive and not cheap especially when it comes to their tank.

Seriously.... I have seen discus in person that were about the size of dinner plates. They have no business in a 20 gallon IMO. Period. A 29 IMO is bare minimum for a pair.

I have seen discus as big as dinner plates as well. They should be in a fifty-five gallon minimum, seriously if you want them to be at their best give them enough room.
