i was at my local grocery store yesterday and i came across DIXIE WHITE PLAYSAND. it says its a product of OLDCASTLE STONE PRODUCTS. do you think that this is silica free? it doesn't say. and is the new package for the old aquarium sand that everyone was looking for last season?

let me know

"Playsand" is typically childsafe so it will most likely be safe to use. The only way you can test to see if it's an aragonite sand is with vinegar. It will fizz if aragonite and do nothing if silica. It does not need to be silica free either although pure aragonite is a better choice.

i heard of doing that , but i also heard that oldcastle was removing the
southdown name. since this is a oldcastle product i wasn't sure if this was one of the new names?
