Do you rinse off dry rock first?

Before adding dry rock to a salt water tank - do you rinse in tap water? Just starting my tank

If it's dry base rock, I usually let in soak in a bucket of RODI water overnight and then brush it off before I add it to the tank.

If your just starting your cycle I would just put it in, any die off will just add to your ammonia for the cycle

Directly in.. No rinsing? We want the bacteria or ammonia on the rock in the tank?

IMO if your cycling the tank just give it a quick rinse off first to get rid of any dust or crap on it save it going in the tank. Then just put it in and cycle like normal.

There is no die off. It's dry rock.

Yeah, let it soak in RO/DI over night and then add it to the tank. Unless you want a tank full of milky water that it.

I just swish it around in a bucket of tap water then add it.
