Ok this tank has been in the works for about a year now. Its my first saltwater tank. Will be doing coral also. Its a 105 gallon rimless with a lifereef sump and fuge. Will be using 2 AI hydras, vortech mp-40, neptune apex controler. I also have a tunze ATO, and 2 brs dosing pumps. Im just starting to get the stand together now. I have the sump and the fuge in the stand now just to make sure everything fits. I just installed led lighting in the stand tonight. I thought it came out good. I still need to buy another stand or a cabinet to put all the electronics in. Not much more room under the tank. I tried working on the apex today. Had to update the firmware. And get it to link up with my hydras and the mp-40. God that was hell. But everything linked up. Quit after that. Had to watch cartoons with my 3 yo son. Im hoping to get this tank up and running in the next couple weeks. I got about 130 lbs of rock from BRS. Been cycling about 14 weeks now. Cycle finished. Just dosing ammonia to keep it going. Its in a large rubbermaid. Any help will be welcomed. Like i said this is my first saltwater tank. I did my research. And hope everything goes as planned.

Well i couldnt find a cabinet that fit my needs so i built one myself. I think its coming out well. Its going to house my electrical. Apex controler, dosing pumps, auto top off etc. Still not finished but getting there.

No not really been working alot lately. Waiting on my return plumbing parts to come in. Should be here tomorrow. speers true union ball valves. This is my first saltwater build. Ive been researching overflow plumbing and im going to do a herbie. I think the dursos that came with the tank will be a little loud. Was in the attic today. Im going to put a exhaust vent over my tank. Like a hi flow bathroom one. Worried about the humidity. Also tried making a door for the electrical cabinet- top off stand. Didnt go so good. I have to order one on the internet. Nevrr really thought about how expensive this is. I also took down my 55 freshwater. Had to rearrange the livingroom. Hang my tv on the wall to make room for the new tank.
Tank will be on opposite wall. Hopefully in the next 2 weeks ill get water in it. I still have to rinse the sand. Leak test everything. this week were the first nice days we had in a while.

Yeah it's crazy how fast you can spend money on a reef tank. I just set up my first SW tank (40 breeder) and was thinking about switching to a DSA 105. It just cost so much for everything you need(want).

Well i finally got it up and running. Finished the plumbing. Bean animal overflow. Dead silent. Couldnt be more happy with this set up. Started it sun night. Added my first fish yesterday. Got to yellow lined cardinals. Fish were still alive this morning. Eating well. Next week ill add 2 more. Going for a blue spot jawfish.

The pic at top is the final way the rock will stay for now. Just need all the rock in the tank to get the water level correct.

I cycled the tank with the rock in a large rubbermaid with ammonia. Had it going since nov. Before thanksgiving. Ran ran gfo also. Took awhile to get phosphate to zero. Probably a plus that i was running behind on the build.

Hate to burst your bubble but that's not a duncan. It's actually a torch coral, you can tell by the skeleton. Duncan's have a flesh covered skeleton most other LPS do not.

Well just an update. Yes it was a torch. Thank you. And its 3xs the size now. Have some zoas. A new wrasse and a few more corals. The tank is comming along great no problems yet. All parm. Perfect. In the month its been up i did one water change. nitrates hit 10ppm. Phos. At .04 the highest.
