So this stuff came all white and flaky.
So I says to myself- self I says "you better give this a good rinse!"
Then I decide maybe I better let it sit in a QT for a few days to soak in saltwater
Then tonight...I check water parameters, for the heck of it, and Ammonia is 2.0, Nitrite 1.0. I didn't even check the trates cause my hands were shaking at how close I came to putting that stuff right in the DT.
Who would of thought...

Basically, you are curing it. You are letting all the die off decompose and turn to ammonia and then to nitrite and then nitate. Just live rock without the critters and algae when you are done curing it.
