My 37 tall has a glass canopy top on it and still the water evaporates crazy fast. Can someone tell me why, and if there's anyway to slow it down?

How fast we talking? Surely it wouldn't do much more than an inch in a week?

Some things I've blamed for faster evaporation:
- Hang-on-back filters (especially ones with open tops)
- Tops with significant gaps
- Warm water / warm room
- Fans or air circulation in the room
- Riparium plants

I haven't measured the effects to know how significant they are, but generally you get more evaporation when you have air moving over the surface of the water and when temperatures are higher.

Also in areas where the humidity is low, no?
