My hang on back filter pad gets so dirty really quick to the point the water barely flows through it my parematers are great 0 nitrate should I remove the filter pad altogether and maybe put some macro or sand in the filter?

have you ever changed your filter pad? the yshould be changed out every few months and cleaned weekly

I'm thinking since I have so much live rock in my tank I could leave the bio sponge in it and add sand to the bottom of the filter and it would be like a fuge just to clean the water

Apparently you need the filter if it is getting that dirty so quickly.agree with Gti_Leo ,clean it more often and replace as needed.Do you have one and a half to two lbs live rock per gallon?

I agree with ricksreef and think you should keep using the filter pads. I personally consider 1lb per gallon the minimum amount to use.
