I have had my sump completed its a 10 gallon sump with a 55 gallon display salt water tank. I have a filter sock that the overflow box dumps in to. How often do these need to be replaced? Do I swoosh it out during water changes or just leave it in there? Not really sure what to do this is my first sump experience. I bought 3 extra socks so I have 4. I am on my last sock now bc I have been changing them when the water backs up a little bit.

I pull mine inside out and spray them with a hand held nozzle. After they are rinsed out drop them in a bucket of warm water with bleach for a day or so - then I rinse them again and I hang them in a empty salt bucket to catch the water as they dry for a couple days. I have four sets that I rotate every five days or so. I use four sets so they are sure to be dry and always have extra around.
