Filter tube length

On my AC 20 filter, how far down the tank should the end the tube be? At the moment it is about half way. I was wondering if it should be closer to the bottom.

It should be close to the bottom

Both my Fluval C3 and Aquaclear50 came from the factory going only half way down. Heck, my el cheapo Aqua-Tech 30-60 from Walmart (which I just replaced with Fluval & Aquaclear) had the intake tube going all the way to the bottom, almost touching the gravel.

It's pretty much common sense the intake tube should go to the bottom. I just got the same extension tube you need:
