Hi my filter has broken n I have put an old one in for the time being. My old filter does not contain any ceramic bio cylinders or carbon

anybody know if this will affect my tropical fish in anyway?

Thanks

You will need to transfer some or all of the media over from your broken filter or your levels may skyrocket!

Ok thanks, how would I improvise if I can fit the media in the filter?

Thats just for a temperory measure not long term

Hello vin...

You need to get a new filter as soon as possible. But, if your tank is established (cycled) and the old filter is moving the water surface you don't really need filter media, just remove and replace half the water in the tank every few days until you get a replacement filter.

If you change out a lot of tank water regularly, up to half the tank volume, there won't be enough time for toxins to build in the water. The tank water will stay clean for your fish.

Just a suggestion.
