Well, I'm ready for my first fish and would like to start with a clownfish. I read it's better to have a pair of them? Just curious if that's true. If so, they should be the same type of clown right? Thanks! (I'm so excited!!)

It is best to buy a mated pair because then you guarantee that they are compatible, they are more expensive but in my opinion I think it would be worth it. If you dont get a mated pair get 2 of the same type. Dont mix percs with ocelleris. Ocelleris are said to be more docile than percula.

I agree with sgc, you would be fine getting two clowns of the same species that are not a mated pair, but just pick one out and get another that is smaller than the first you picked. The smaller one will be the male, and the bigger one will be the female.
