Does anyone have keep any of these?

We purchased 2 from a LFS but after only 2 weeks they both died at the same time. We were unsure if they were trying to moult and couldn't get out of their shells.

The LFS is keeping them submerged as fully aquatic but reading up on them they are semi-aquatic with a preference over land. The LFS are giving us 2 more new ones to replace the others today. I have created a new 'crabitat' for the critters from cat litter and bark. We also have a heat mat under them tank but not sure if it is producing enough heat to keep them warm.

If anyone has any info on them and would like to share we would appreciate it.

Hey there! You are correct, they are semi terrestrial. What sort of cat litter are you using? Cat litters often have scents and other chemicals in them that would probably be poisonous to crabs. You will want to have a water area for them. A large tupperware container they an climb into and out of would do. Temps around 75F should do. They are omnivores and will eat small crickets, bloodworms, some pellets and fish flakes. Here is a good site with some info on them: http://www.panzerwelten.de/forum/thread-711.html

I used a natural cat litter with just fullers earth in it. Mixed with bark and husk etc. until mold-able.

They are currently in an old aquarium with a wire lid, heat mat underneath and have some burrows, tunnels, water and an upturned coconut shell to hide in.

We gave them some mealworms today and one of them has had a nice dinner with it.

1 died following a battle we think as it lost a claw and a leg.

Just have the one now. Hardly ever see him, he hide in the dark and even hangs upside down in the burrows we made. lol
