Acrylic is nice, but it is ridiculously easy to scratch. Acrylic tanks come in much weirder shapes than glass tanks, but this doesn't fix the lack of durability IMO.
I have a few tanks of each & I still can't really decide which is better
But I think I lean more towards acrylic, because its lighter & when it gets scratched it can be buffed out
Also when its clean its a lot clearer
My acrylic (200 gallon) is around 11 years old maybe older i dont remember when my dad got it but its still crystal clear and not yellowing so im not sure whats with the glass wont yellow over time comments but also mine has not been set up the entire time its only been up and running again for around 4 months
I would definitely recommend acrylic aquariums. Since acrylic is lighter, it is cheaper to ship and easier to move than an equivalent glass tank. It is also stronger and less prone to breakage.
