I used to have 6 fish in my 35 gallon reef and i had a whip out of every fish. 3 went carpet surfing and 3 died of unkown case. I am currently having green haire algae problems that i think started because i didnt do a water change after a fish dieing and didnt get them out of the tank. Since i dont have fish anymore, should the algae problem go away by it's self since there is no more bioload to feed the algae??

I'd do a good sized PWC just to clean things up. 50% if you can. Several back to back would be even better.

Before you do the change, use a good quality test kit to test your nitrates, nitrites and phosphates. Probably wouldn't hurt to check ammonia, since your one floater may have added some to the water column...
