OK so I'm breeding guppies and I was planning on selling them any tips

Breed Pet Store Guppies
Breed without a market
Breed without a place for all fry
Expect to make much money
Put prices too high-you'll get maybe 30% of retail value from an LFS.
Cross lines
Do-
Breed selectively
Take time to find good breeding stock
Have an outlet for fry
Have at least 100 gallons worth of tanks
Have a proper filtration system

Look at ifga.org for some articles from guppy organizations. Best to start with 8-10 ten gallon tanks, no gravel, sponge filters. Be prepared to cull a lot when line breeding. If you don't have a LFS outlet, Craigslist may help you sell them.

Is it worth paying for an ad in the paper when selling guppies. Does it cost money to put an ad on Craigslist?

No cost. Craigslist is free.

Most papers charge, some very local ones are free, but IMO a newspaper is not specific enough to the aquarium community. You could check a local club, many of them have a few swap meets and auctions throughout the year.

I don't think I could use the auction idea because my guppies aren't worth enough to sell at auction I just thought I could put a tent up every first Saturday of the month and selling them for a. Few. Dollars
