Not been on here for ages!
Anyways down to business, was sort of re-vamping my tank whilst im back from uni, and i remember seing something years ago in a shop near me.. hard to explain but basically was a rock and sand fell down it - much like a waterfall... i presume it had some sort of pump pumping the sand back up to the top..
just wondering if anyone knows what they are actually called, has one, has any pictures of them etc.. and if you're in the UK, where you can get hold of one?

I only saw this in the DIY forum a while back, and the conclusion we came up with is something like a grain elevator to lift the sand. I'd be interested in this if anyone can find out about it.

What keeps the sand from just spreading around in the water?

Yeah, but it's a Mermaid, not what I'm looking for. I have sand in my tank all over. I wouldn't care what sand it works with in my tank, although I don't know if it would be powerful enough to list the pool filter sand I have.
