How often do you change the cartridge in the filter?

I don't replace them till they fall apart or I.can't get them clean anymore. Those thing normally don't last long maybe a couple months till they fall apart.

I stopped using them years ago and started buying filter floss to stuff in the filter

Im still kinda new to this so bare with me but what it's filter floss and where do you get it, all i have seen is the balls would those work in my filters?

What kind if filter do you have? It's called Poly-fiber, and petsmart and petco carries it. Walmart maybe. The balls are BioMax. I buy the HBH floss and fluval BioMax. Aquarist has it too, (same company though)

You can by crafting polyfil at a place like Walmart, Michels, or jo-anns. You will find a large bag or quilt batting will cost about five bucks
