How do you choose your fish

Mine were chosen by my wife at first. Had to have all the pretty ones. Once I found AA and did some research and built around specific species, I try to build around a communal disposition. As well as what mixes well color wise. And now when we go to the store she actually asks more then I do on what works with what and minimum tank size. She likes the hobby as long as I do the work.

Lots of the time its by color and behavior, but mostly whatever looks the weirdest/coolest We get snails and such to benefit the tank

With bettas, the more sad and pitiful, the more likely I will pick them up. Any other fish its by either how cute they are or if they fit a color scheme.
